Corporate Social Responsibility

For IHS Global Insight Southern Africa, B-BBEE is more than a responsibility - it is a priority. Recognising the importance of economic transformation in South Africa and the role B-BBEE plays in bringing about this transformation, we are committed to follow a strategy that will benefit our customers, suppliers, staff, as well as the broader community.

As part of our corporate social responsibility, we have launched the "Global Insight Economics Scholarship" at the University of the Witwatersrand. The Scholarship awarded to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in South Africa covers all tuitions fees, accommodation and living costs, as well as a book allowance for the full three-year degree. Awarded for the first time in 2008 to a well-deserving student from Thohoyandou in Limpopo Province, the scholarship was initiated as part of IHS Global Insight Southern Africa's commitment to economic transformation and socio-economic upliftment (see full article here).

In addition to the scholarship, IHS Global Insight South Africa donated funds to the Atteridgeville/Saulsville Association for People with Disabilities: Lebuwe Centre that provides care and support for people with disability (see full article here).

Our contribution towards enterprise development is focussed around training and support for black-empowerment enterprises. Economic transformation is achievable through capacity building and skills development, and we commit ourselves to empowering previously disadvantaged individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute towards a growing South African economy.

Procuring from a base of suppliers from previously disadvantaged communities or B-BBEE compliant companies, we support the development of black empowerment business.

IHS Global Insight will continue to view B-BBEE as a priority, and we are committed towards contributing to a better life for all South Africans.
